What to Do When You're Stuck on Connections — Without Spoiling It

You've stared at the 16 words for 10 minutes. Two of your guesses already mistakes. You don't want to read the answer but you can't see the pattern. Here's what to do.

Technique 1: Re-read the words aloud

Saying the words activates phonological pattern recognition. Homophones become obvious. Hidden words become audible.

Technique 2: Rearrange them

Mentally group the 16 words alphabetically. Or by length. The visual rearrangement breaks your "anchor" reading.

Technique 3: Pick the "weirdest" word

Which of the 16 words feels most out of place? That word is probably in the purple group. Build the rest of the purple group from there.

Technique 4: Walk away for 5 minutes

Cognitive scientists call this the "incubation effect." Subconscious pattern matching often resolves the puzzle when you stop forcing it. Close the tab, come back later.

Technique 5: One progressive hint, then back to the grid
