Connections vs Wordle — Which Daily NYT Puzzle Is Harder?

NYT Connections and Wordle are both daily 5-minute puzzles. Both went viral. But the skills they train are completely different — and so is the failure rate.

Wordle: word retrieval + elimination

You need to think of 5-letter words you know. Then narrow down using letter feedback. It's pattern matching on your existing vocabulary. Once you have a starter strategy (e.g. AUDIO, CRANE, SLATE), you can solve 90%+ of puzzles in 4-6 guesses.

Connections: lateral grouping + trap avoidance

You need to perceive themes that aren't immediately obvious. Half the difficulty is recognizing the puzzle's deception: the purple group steals what looks like an obvious yellow word.

Which is more addictive?
